My Theory of Counseling and Psychotherapy
Here in your first paragraph you need to write an introduction to your paper. Typically
an introduction briefly notes the purpose and scope of your work, and the topics you will be
covering. Please note that the general objective of the paper is for you to integrate from
several theories. This means you need to integrate aspects of at least two theories in your
paper. However, you are not allowed to select Cognitive Therapy as one and Behavioral
Therapy as another. That is CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), and is typically considered
an integrated theory by default. It would beat the purpose of the assignment if you were to
write your whole paper on CBT. You can select CBT and combine one or more theories
(e.g., psychodynamic, person-centered, existential, etc.).
PLEASE NOTE – although you have been writing about these theories in previous
weeks, you are not allowed to self-plagiarize. This paper needs to be a unique, stand-alone
paper. This also means that you are not allowed to copy and paste from similar papers
required in other courses (e.g., Couple and Family Therapy).
Basic View of Human Nature
Here we start with writing on the different areas/questions that are required of this
paper. The first one is the basic view of human nature that your integrated theory has.
Remember that you do not need to make a theory up. You just need to integrate from what
you have read throughout this quarter. That is, from the different views on human nature that
you have read, which is the one that fits best for you? You need to specify, of course, what
theory or theories of counseling have this view, and cite appropriately.
Key Factors Accounting for Changes in Behavior
Same here. This is your theory of change. What factors contribute to behavior change
in your theory? Remember to note the theory from which this perspective comes, and cite
appropriately.

Least Suited for this Approach
Conclusion
In your conclusion you need to summarize and make sense of your paper’s findings.
By the way, your paper can be longer than 5 pages but please keep it under 10 pages if
at all possible.
