Research Assignment Overview
For this class, you will choose a research topic and design a 3-5 question survey to
study that topic. This project is designed to give you an idea of how to conduct
educational research, how to interpret those results, and how those results can be used
to affect teaching methods, curriculum, school policy, and educational law.
The core of your research project will be your research instrument, e.g. your
survey. Surveys must collect data anonymously (i.e. they don’t ask for names or other
information that can be used to identify someone) and be easily accessible such as
through a web link.
The following survey tools are listed in your book. You may also choose to use your
own tool such as GoogleDocs to create a survey and collect data. Explore the tools
below and see which one you like the best. All will require you to create an account
but have free access for trial accounts and individual/limited use.
